Well, just like that, 2017 is almost coming to a close. We hope you had a very merry Christmas, but now all eyes turn to the next big date in the festive calendar, New Year’s Eve. When you have little ones, it can sometimes be difficult to find a suitable evening out to celebrate the beginning of a new dawn, typically being one of the busiest evenings across the nation.
However, there are a number of events going on up and down the U.K. which are suitable for the entire family to enjoy. Let the celebrations commence!
London Firework Display
One of the nation’s most enormous annual celebrations, the London firework spectacle has become synonymous with the famous countdown until midnight. This event has now sold out, as expected, but do not let that stop you from missing out on the festivities. There are a number of points scattered around the capital city where you can gain an unbelievable view of the remarkable display from, without having to pay a single penny!
Primrose Hill arguably offers the best view of the display, whilst other vocal points of the city offer equally astonishing views, such as Tower Bridge, Lambeth Bridge and Vauxhall Bridge, whilst if you head on down to Canon Street or east side on Monument, you will be in the thick of the action, as the glorious display lights up the skies of London.
Rochdale Family Party
If you are in the Manchester area and find yourself at a loose end, Rochdale borough council are putting on a family themed party and everybody is invited!
The celebrations begin as early as 2pm, with a number of funfair rides and circus acts to keep the little ones entertained, whilst there is a disco hosted by local radio station Revolution 96.2 for the entire family to get their party on. Food and drink will be served throughout the event, whilst the evening entertainment will begin around 10pm. There are to amazing firework displays to witness, with the first at 5:30pm and the second letting off when the clock strikes midnight.
Chessington World of Adventure New Year’s Party
If you feel like pushing out the boat this New Year’s, then Chessington World of Adventure’s party will be right up your street! From a buffet in the resorts landmark restaurant, to a visit around the zoo, the overnight stay will be a highlight of the festive period for the entire family.
Begin your evening with a feast at the Temple restaurant, before moving on to the entertainment provided throughout your stay. Meet and greets with the exotic animals the resort has as residents will keep your little ones entertained, whilst they can party away at the kid’s disco. For those who can’t make it till midnight, there is a junior midnight at 9pm! You are also guaranteed entry to the resorts Zoo the next day, after treating yourself to a complimentary full English breakfast of course!
Adult tickets are £124 per person, whilst children up to the age of 12 enter for £99. Kids under the age of 3 can enter for free.
Ice Skating at Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland
Skate into the new year, literally! At Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland, you can be on the ice when the clock hits midnight. If you find yourself in and around Winter Wonderland, but off of the ice, stick around as the magnificent firework display takes off to spark the celebrations.
The ice rink is located in Cardiff’s Civic Centre and is an exceptional way to bring in 2018, with the entire family to participate in the festivities.
Edinburgh Hogmanay Street Carnival
The popular 6-hour street party, which is at the heart of the Scottish Capital’s Hogmanay celebrations this year, is part of a three-day celebration to bring in the new year.
On New Year’s Eve, pop down to West Princes Street Gardens for the festivities. If you don’t feel your little ones will make it through to midnight, an hour-long period of entertainment will be followed by a large firework display at 6pm, to give the little ones their own ‘midnight’.
The carnival spirit includes fire breathers, DJs and live entertainment, whilst an enormous firework display from Edinburgh Castle will kick 2018 off with a bang at midnight!
