Fans across the globe were today launched into mass hysteria as everyone’s favourite Martial Artist/ Action Hero, Jackie Chan, announced in an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle that he is on board for the latest edition to the Rush Hour franchise, 10 years after the dynamic duo last lit up our screens and a whopping 19 years after the original.
However, you may want to hold your horses before telling all your friends about the big news. The launch of this film relies on Chan’s partner in crime, Chris Tucker, agreeing to return to the role which saw the pair win numerous awards, including an MTV Movie Award for best on-screen duo. "For the last seven years, we've been turning down the script, turning down the script. Yesterday, we just agreed. The script probably at the end of this month will have a second draft and next year, [we'll] probably start. If ... Chris Tucker agrees." Said Chan. This seems to be a huge step in the right direction and appears as if the wheels are now in motion for fans to finally get their long-overdue wish of a fourth instalment to the action-comedy series… As long as Tucker agrees to return!
However, don’t be disheartened that Tucker has yet to announce his intentions, as he has regularly spoke about his desire to return to the set in the past. Speaking back in 2012, he stated “Rush Hour 4, we're looking into it, me and Jackie. We're trying to get it going, so we're developing something, so hopefully we'll get something in.” – so just hold tight!
As news of Chan’s comments broke, fans across the world took to social media to announce their glee at the possibility of Rush Hour returning.
