At KidsKnowBest, we are huge supporters and fans of film. Our kids and their families love it when we get invited to preview screenings. Seeing a film on the big screen at a certain time with an oversized bag of popcorn and a coca cola that would serve 4, is an event in itself and that excitement will never go away. Whether you are an excitable 8 year old waiting on the next superhero film or a giddy 40 something gathering the gang together for the latest period drama, cinema is for everyone.

So, we were absolutely delighted to be invited to attend the programme launch of the 62nd London Film Festival at the Cineworld in Leicester Square, London. There was an elevated buzz of intrigue and excitement in the air as coffee, pastries and orange juice were quaffed by a full attendance in the appropriately named, Superscreen Room.

As we were introduced to a wide array of films that are being shown at the 11 day festival, it was noticeable how varied and relevant the selection is. Film entries from 77 countries is quite something.

We will of course be covering the family strand of the festival and shall be reporting back on all we see. We were particularly thrilled to see that Jon Baird's biopic 'Stan and Ollie' is being screened. The film tells the story of Stan 'Laurel' and Ollie 'Hardy', and starring Steve Coogan and John C Reilly, this is sure to be a fitting tribute to two of cinema's comedy giants.

There is such a wide array of films that we can't wait for the festival to start on 10th October. Tickets are available for purchase for the public on 13th September on the BFI website and earlier for members. We will be sure to highlight the family films that you must go and see.
