Preparations at The North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD) are underway for their most important mission of the year, tracking Santa across the globe on Christmas Eve. On the big day, NORAD take a break from protecting the North American skies to switch their 47 radar systems to magical mode, in order to follow the big man as he continent hops, delivering presents and eating mince pies along the way. And you can track him every step of the way!

The satellites, over 20,000 feet up in the sky, begin to track Father Christmas as soon as his sleigh takes off the ground back in the North Pole, with their sensors able to gain heat from Rudolf’s red nose to give an accurate reading of their progress. From the United States, to China, to the UK and everywhere inbetween, follow Santa as visits the home of every child on the planet.

To follow Santa’s progress and discover how far away he is from your city on Christmas Eve, visit the official NORAD website on Christmas Eve and watch his epic journey unfold right before your eyes.

If you cannot wait until then, you can check in to the North Pole on NORAD ‘s site, where you can take a tour, watch movies, play games and plenty more!
